Subscribe to the BlogIran has always been in a confrontation mode with th West and US ever since 1990 after the famous conflict with Iraq. The Iranian regime had cut out from discussions with the west on nuclear plans , while it has been saying that the nuclear initiatives are only for peaceful purposes.
Now there are reports that it has tested out advanced nuclear equipments which can eventually help it in manufacturing nuclear war heads.
The US and the Western world are worried about this new development, given the track record of Iran in perpetrating Islamic militancy. Even Russia and China are now working closely with US and UK in bringing Iran to the negotiation table. Iran would be forced to come to the negotiation table and put all the nuclear activities under the International Atomic Agency monitoring, or else it could face further economic sanctions.
It is important to note that Iran is the only Middle East country which has not grown economically in the last decade due to the UN sanctions. Even then the Iranian regime does not seem to be interested in putting back the life of millions of Iranians into prosperity.
It is indeed sad to see that Iran imports over 50% of the Diesel and Petrol it needs from other countries, though it has the world's second largest gas reserves.
