Subscribe to the BlogThe Saturday saw a cancellation of 93 British airways flights departing from Heathrow. The arrivals as many as thirty eight arrivals had been canceled. The flights from London airport, Gatwick airports were not affected though. The strike of the airways started from March 20 and was called by Unite and union.
The union consist of 13,500 cabin crew members .the airways has plans to fly 240,000 passengers around 75% during the strike till Tuesday. The last day of the strike will be Tuesday; the additional passengers counting 43,000 will be re-booked in other flights. Around 1000 staff volunteers from other departments of British airways are used as cabin crew members.
The British airways have hired 11 fully staffed aircrafts from third party. The negotiations between the British airways and Unite were booked a few days ago. The two managements has not yet resumed despite of repeated meetings. The Easter holiday after more strikes will be continued said Unite. A minimum seven days is required for the notice of walkout as per as British law.
